Which is heavier, a pound of silver or a pound of feathers?
If both are weighed on the same scale, neither. But there's a real version of the old riddle: in the troy system, a pound of silver is 12 troy ounces (373 g), while a pound of feathers is always avoirdupois (454 g). So a troy pound of silver is lighter than a pound of feathers.

Why is the price on this site different from another site's?
Timing, source and unit. Prices move constantly, sites refresh at different times, some show futures rather than spot, and some quote a bid (what dealers pay) rather than a mid-price. A site that quotes "per pound" at 16 ounces will also be about 9.7% higher than ours.

Can I hold silver bought by the pound in an IRA?
Only if it's .999 fine bullion from an accepted refiner, or American Silver Eagles. Junk silver, sterling and older silver dollars don't qualify under IRS rules.
