The Weight: Why 34.3 Pounds
Monster boxes are where the pound and the troy ounce collide most visibly. 500 troy ounces sounds like it should be about 31 pounds if you think of an ounce as a sixteenth of a pound. But the troy ounce is heavier than the everyday ounce, so 500 troy ounces is 500 ÷ 14.583 = 34.29 pounds of silver.
